This is basically the design EVGA used until modular became the thing and now they offer it as their entry level. These EVGA ones will put out 450W for years and years. Even decent quality sub-$100 PSUs that claim 600-800W tend to only put out about 400W most of the time and this can drop as they age. I have installed hundreds of PSUs and tested their output. Overall Review: I highly recommend going with this PSU over any of the similar priced ones from cheaper brands that offer higher peak wattage. Just about any decent third party case will have the ability to mount just about any ATX power supply though.

A few cases expect the power supply to be designed to mount upright or upside down, so don't have 8 holes for both positions. The power supply can be mounted top or bottom in a case, but only if the case has traditional patterns for the 4 screws. I erased my previous CON opinion about the cable thickness when I realized that the main GPU 6+2 cable thickness is actually much thicker than the split line. Professionals say that it will produce 350-400W at 50C. Rating at 30 degrees C rather than 40C for most EVGA PSUs.
